Welcome to The Xena Project

Summer Volunteering

Are you or your family looking for a way to get involved in the Fort Bend community this summer? Join us at The Xena Project! Current needs include:

Nursing home and retirement community visits in the greater Fort Bend area through the Donald Charles Outreach Program – volunteers of all ages needed, veteran status not required! Next visit: Saturday, June 16th at 2 p.m., Sugarland area.

Jail Ministry, focused first on Fort Bend County Jail – seeking veteran volunteers, and/or those experienced in jail ministry. Individualized relationship building in jail will lead to effective reintegration upon release.

Court Supporters, Fort Bend County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) – mentally, emotionally, and spiritually strong men needed to provide fellowship, and eventually mentorship, to the seven veterans currently on the combined docket. VTC is a 1-2 year heavily monitored jail diversion program available to combat veterans with diagnosed mental health challenges, intended to put deserving men in crisis on the road to recovery. The docket meets the last Thursday of every month in Fort Bend.

Disabled American Veterans Group Day (DAV), Sept/Oct (date TBD) – the DAV veterans of Fort Bend County have requested a day of fellowship at the ranch in Beasley. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds sought to help with logistics, activity stations, animal handling, and more.
